Philanthropy All-Stars honored on National Philanthropy Day at Fenway Park.

Over 100 attendees celebrated National Philanthropy Day on November 15 with a breakfast at Fenway Park.
Jeffrey Bilezikian, a member of the family that founded the Christmas Tree Shops and a trustee of the Bilezikian Family Foundation, was the keynote speaker. Jeffrey shared his experiences in helping to found and manage a foundation, as well as his community volunteer work.

In addition, Associated Grant Makers honored five of the region’s Philanthropy All Stars:
Mrs. Nancy L. Donahue helped found the Merrimack Repertory theater, and is a long time donor and community volunteer in Lowell. She has served as board chair of her local United Way, as well as playing important roles in establishing the New England Quilt Museum and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation.

Ambassador Swanee Hunt is Chair of Hunt Alternatives Fund, a private foundation in Cambridge that encourages innovate and inclusive approaches to social change. She has a history of encouraging disparate groups in dialogue and action to work together for common solutions, and is known as a visionary philanthropic leader.

Mr. John Jacobs & Mr. Bert Jacobs are the founders of the Life is good® brand. They are emerging philanthropists, sponsoring Pumpkin Festivals to support Camp Sunshine and bringing a fresh energy to corporate giving in Boston.

Ms. Che Madyun is a long-time community leader who has been instrumental in bringing the right people to the table to implement a small grants program in Roxbury.

Ms. Hang Nina Nguyen has volunteered thousands of hours to assist Vietnamese newcomers to the Boston area to access critical services. In addition, her pro bono work legal work played a critical role in helping immigrants recover funds that had been misappropriated by another attorney. She also mentors at-risk youth.

Special thank you to the sponsors of this event: Lewis, Ryan, Eaton Group of Merrill Lynch and The Boston Foundation.

Stephanie Warburg of the Max Warburg Courage Curriculum, expressed her appreciation for today's program, "Today's observance program was very inspiring as well as informational. The Keynote Speaker was both fascinating and touching; the award winners were interesting and impressive. Anna Beardslee, Penny Savitz and I all felt that we benefited from attending in many ways! Thank You!"
